Finding a SEN assessor shouldn't take six weeks of phone tag.

A family suspecting their child has dyslexia, ADHD, or a speech-and-language need has to find a qualified assessor on their own. Twenty browser tabs, four phone calls, three voicemails, and a six-week wait for a 90-minute video session that ends with a PDF report sent over email. The assessors aren't easier off, they juggle inquiries in personal inboxes, manually check calendars, and chase payment after the fact.

Assess Mind's brief was to put the whole pathway behind one login. Families browse a directory of assessors with verified credentials and government-ID-checked profiles, filter by need (dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, dyscalculia, autism, speech and language), see real availability, book a slot, pay with Stripe, and meet inside a Daily.co video room, with the questionnaire and report attached to the appointment record.

Verification is the keystone. Every assessor uploads passport, driver's licence, national ID, and qualification proof during onboarding. Nothing goes live until the admin desk has signed off, so when a family sees the badge, it means something.

A directory the family can trust before the call.

Families land on assessmind.org and search the assessor directory by SEN type, language, and price. Each card carries the assessor's photo, certification (e.g. CSET, Certified Special Education Teacher), session price, and a Detailed View button. No "someone will be in touch" gate; the family can read the full profile without an account.

On the profile, the verification block leads, Government ID, qualification documents, and languages spoken. The Book Assessor CTA sits at the top right; below it, availability days, pricing, and the About-You section. The family knows what they're paying for before they hit Book.

Booking is a modal, not a six-step funnel. From the assessor profile the family opens a calendar that shows real availability synced from the assessor's schedule (the same schedule they manage from the assessor side). Pick a date, pick a time slot, hit Book Now, Stripe collects payment in the same flow.

Assessors set availability once, in the Schedule view: which days, which hours. The booking modal reads from that source of truth, so a family can never book a Tuesday afternoon when the assessor is teaching. Calendly-style logic, but inside the marketplace and tied to the appointment record.

The video room knows the report it's attached to.

Every appointment is a record, not just a calendar entry. Status (Pending · Confirmed · Completed · Cancelled), questionnaire, report, student name, and meeting link all live on one screen. The assessor opens the session from there; the family does the same. Daily.co rooms are minted per appointment, so the URL only works for the two parties booked.

After the session, the assessor uploads the report straight to the appointment record, no email attachments. The family sees Report and Questionnaire icons on their dashboard and can download both. If anything's unclear, Chat with Admin opens a thread on the same screen.

One admin desk runs verification, disputes, and refunds.

Assessors don't go live until the admin desk verifies them. The admin dashboard surfaces the application queue with passport, driver's licence, and qualification documents in one panel. Approve or reject in a click, the assessor's status pill flips to Verified across the marketplace.

From the same desk, admins manage user accounts, assessment categories (which SEN types the platform covers), payment disputes, and the appointment status board (Pending · Confirmed · Completed · Cancelled · Cancelled-with-refund). A single operator can run the whole verification + dispute pipeline before the marketplace needs a second hire.
