01 / 05Challenge

Teachers were selling lesson plans through PDFs and shared drives.

Teachers buy and sell lesson materials all the time, a chunk of it happens on global resource marketplaces, a depressing amount happens through Facebook groups, school shared drives, and emailed PDFs. Nobody had a clean, curriculum-aware marketplace where the filter actually understood what a 'Year 9 Mathematics' resource means in the buyer's context.

The hard part isn't the cart, the listings, or even Stripe, it's the curriculum filter. Different regions, year groups, and learning areas resolve to different syllabus structures, strands, and sub-strands. A 'Year 11 Chemistry' resource in one region maps to a different standard than the same year and subject in another. Without that resolution, the marketplace is just a file store.

There was no revenue split, no metadata, no sales analytics, and no buyer library, every transaction was an email, a screenshot of a bank transfer, and a Drive link that expired the next semester. The brief was to bring all of that online without flattening the curriculum logic.

02 / 05Buyer Marketplace

Filters that know what year and what subject actually mean.

The Featured Resources page is the buyer's entry point, curated cards by subject and year, with curriculum tags visible at a glance. Each Resource Detail view opens with the full preview, seller credentials, year-group fit, and an 'Add to cart' or 'Save for later' action. The cart is digital-file aware: post-checkout, files attach to the buyer's My Purchases library and stay re-downloadable for life.

Saved Resources is the wishlist surface, every bookmarked resource accumulates here with quick-actions to remove or move-to-cart. My Purchases is the post-buy library: anything purchased stays accessible forever, with re-download links that don't expire.

03 / 05Seller Publish Wizard

Six steps. Cover image to summary. Curriculum tags resolved automatically.

Selling on Rewarding Resources runs through a guided wizard, Add Resources, Upload Cover Image, Upload Resource Files (PDF / DOCX / ZIP), Year Group, Resource Information, Tags, then Summary. Year group is the structural pivot: combined with the seller's region, it derives the correct curriculum automatically and resolves the resource to the right syllabus, strand, and learning area.

The Resource Information step captures title, subject, learning area, and strand. Tags layer on top, both existing and seller-added. The Summary step shows the seller exactly what the buyer will see, with quick-edit on title, price, and cover and a deeper 'Edit curriculum' link if anything needs revision. Sellers can publish immediately or save as draft.

04 / 05Buyer Library & Auth

Buy once, re-download forever. Sign up, verify, recover, without a support ticket.

Every purchase attaches the digital file to the buyer's My Purchases library on checkout, a permanent shelf with re-download links that don't expire. Saved Resources is the wishlist surface, accumulating bookmarked resources with quick-actions to move to cart.

The auth flow covers sign up, email verification, sign in, and self-serve password recovery, so a teacher who switches schools mid-year can re-access every resource they ever bought without writing to support.

05 / 05Seller Dashboard

My Resources, sales price control, transactions, sellers see every dollar.

The seller dashboard centres on My Resources, a list of every published item with status (live, in review, draft), edit-in-place, and inline 'Set Sales Price' controls. Sellers can adjust pricing per resource at any time, with the marketplace recalculating Stripe Connect splits automatically against the agency-set commission percentage.

Stripe Connect handles split payouts at the platform commission rate, with admins able to override commission per seller (for power users) or sitewide (for promotions). The Transactions surface is a per-seller payout history; Profile Settings carries the Stripe Connect onboarding state, payout account, and tax details. Admins moderate listings, manage categories, run coupons, and handle the rare moderation intervention.
